Sunday Social: More About Me

Sunday Social

It's that time of the quarter again - finals! Yuck. I'm seriously stressed out and overwhelmed. Of course I'm not ready so I'll be studying my life away. :( But here's a fun Sunday Social post as a study break. Because you need breaks to stay sane during this time...

1. What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
I like to change my wallpapers occasionally according to the season or holiday of the time. My current wallpaper is very festive because I'm obsessed with Christmas.
Snowy Christmas trees are amazing. :)
2. What do you keep beside your bed?
I have a lip balm, hand cream, cuticle balm, and magazines by my bed. Basically some of my night essentials and reading.

3. What is your least favorite chore?
I hate doing dishes and cleaning the shower area of the bathroom. Emphasis on hate.

4. If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine, what would it be?
Waking up and getting out of bed is a forever struggle. It's so cold in the mornings right now and all I wanna do is snuggle under my covers and be cozy.

5. What do you do to vent anger?
I do a bunch of things, but I mainly eat my feelings or bake something. I like to be in my head to cool off and avoid taking it out on other people.

6. What is your favorite holiday of the year and why?
Christmas, duh. I LOVE everything about it. I'm a December baby and Christmas fanatic all the way!

Sunday Social: Halloween

Sunday Social

I've been MIA because of midterms, school, and my internship so I apologize for not posting lately. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance blogging into my life, and I hope I can figure out some kind of schedule. Anyway, I love Halloween so I couldn't pass up this week's Sunday Social. I hope everyone has a fun and spooky Halloween this year! :)

1. What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
In the 6th grade, I dressed up as a witch, and it was WICKED!

2. If you could go back to your childhood and dress up as something, what would it be?
I would have loved to dress up as one of the Disney princesses. Maybe Belle or Rapunzel since they're my favorites.

3. What was your favorite Halloween costume as an adult?
Last year, I tried dressing up as a Gryffindor girl. I also had Hermione's time turner as a prop, but sadly it didn't make it into this picture.
Santa Barbara Halloween '12
4. What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Twix and Kit Kats! (mostly Twix)

5. What is your favorite Halloween memory?
I celebrated Halloween in Santa Barbara last year, and it was crazy!!! It was a lot of fun, and there were tons of people out and about in the streets. If you know what what Halloween is like in SB, the party shenanigans are real.

6. What is your favorite scary movie?
I don't like scary movies, but I think one of the best ones I've seen is The Poltergeist. It's an oldie, but it's really good.

I'm so excited for Halloween! Anyone have any plans! :)

Sunday Social: Blogger Firsts

Sunday Social

1. What is the first blog you ever followed?
I'm not 100% sure, but it might be between Bakerella and smitten kitchen.

2. What was your first blog post about?
It was basically a small intro about me and my hopes for this little blog. It was definitely the hardest post ever since I don't enjoy talking about myself too much.

3. Who left you your first blog comment?
Taylor from The California College Student is the sweetest! :)

4. Who was the first blogger you ever met in person?
I've never met a blogger in real life, but I would definitely love to meet Bakerella, Joy the Baker, and David Lebovitz. Food bloggers are so cool!

5. What was your first “blogging milestone?”
Getting comments is awesome, and getting my first one was such a big deal for me. I never imagined that other people could stumble upon my blog and leave comments so I threw a little dance party in my head (It's the little things, right? :) ).

Sunday Social: My Younger Self

Sunday Social

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
Middle school was definitely my super awkward years. I wasn't super social, and I mostly kept to myself. High school was still awkward (well that's still true today), but I became more outgoing and sociable especially senior year. Throughout high school, I was really involved with extracurriculars, and I was driven to succeed and excel academically so I can get into a good college and get a lot of scholarships. Boring stuff really, but thank goodness I lived a little during my senior year.

2. What were your favorite pastimes?
I loved playing Pokemon games on my gameboy, watching lots of TV (like Full House and Gilmore Girls), and read books. During my senior year of high school, I picked up baking and watching Youtube videos. I still do all these things now, minus the Pokemon part because my gameboy is lost somewhere in Narnia...

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
I loved Britney Spears and boy bands for sure. I was a major pop music fan, and I was all about the 90's top hits.

4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe?
Wearing Uggs with everything. I never understood why everyone, especially celebrities, always wore them. I guess comfort is important, but they just don't look that great to me. They actually look pretty unflattering because they're bulky, but that's probably just me. Fashion in general baffles me often.

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I don't really remember who it was, but it might be Chad Michael Murray. One Tree Hill was one of my favorite shows while growing up, and he was so cute!

6. What was your favorite movie?
I never really had a favorite movie, but I always enjoyed watching Disney movies. I was really into the Princess Diaries and all the romantic comedies like 13 Going on 30 and Sweet Home Alabama.

Sunday Social: Jobs

Sorry I've been MIA for a while, but I finally got internet in my apartment last Wednesday so blogging is much easier to do now. School started last Thursday so I was really busy figuring out my schedule and catching up with friends. Hopefully, I will be able to post more regularly so let's get back into this thing with a Sunday Social! :)

Sunday Social

This week's questions are job-related questions. At least they're not interview type of questions so that's a relief!

1. What is your dream job?
I don't actually have a dream job... is that weird? I guess if I'm being realistic, I would love to be a child psychologist or a book editor. I would love to work with children and psychology is super interesting for me. Then on the other hand, I'd love to be paid to read books and make revisions. This is a tough question!

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
I would travel the world, do a lot of community service, and finally get around to doing some pinterest-inspired crafts and recipes.

3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

I'm not currently in a career field because I'm still in college. I guess if I could give advice to new college freshmen it would be to start looking into internships to get work experience for your resume and to gain mentors for the field(s) that you are interested in.

4. What would be your ideal "just for fun" job?

I would love to be a baker for sure. I love baking so getting paid to do it would be really fun. Making up clever nail polish colors sound like a fun job too!

5. What was your first "real" job?
My first "real" job was working at Old Navy during the holiday season. I didn't mind working retail, but I had a bad experience with the management. I won't get into the specifics, but I still enjoyed the extra money I made during that holiday season and I still shop there.

Sunday Social: My Purse and Daily Essentials

Sunday Social
This week's questions are about purses, which is fun because I just cleaned out my purse (I had so many receipts that I have been accumulating since the beginning of time) and I'd love to share my essentials.

1. What is your favorite handbag you've ever owned?

I use this bag all the time. It's the perfect size to hold my stuff and extras, and I'm glad it's durable since it is still with me after all these years. I think I might have gotten it at Tilly's in high school or Pacsun since the brand is Billabong. The stud detailing on the outside is cool, and there's also a cool black and white tribal print on the inside.

My favorite and most used purse

2. What is your dream handbag you lust over?
I am completely smitten with the Chanel Quilted Leather Handbag! It's a classic, versatile purse that goes well with everything and anything. What's not to love, right?

3. What are the daily essentials in your purse or work bag?
I gotta have my lip balm, hand sanitizer, water bottle, keys, wallet, pen(s), gum or breath mints, granola bar (I always get hungry), my iPhone and phone charger, small makeup bag, and planner.

4. What's in your purse (with pictures)?

My purse is currently clean so this is a rare moment for me. Usually I have a lot more stuff, but I was running errands on Friday so I wanted to empty my purse and travel lightly. Right now (starting from the top left), I have: a Colgate wisp, Angry Birds band-aids, a nail cutter, the lemon EOS lip balm with SPF, a brush/mirror combo thingy, the grapefruit mint Hello breath spray, Hello Kitty blotting sheets, a Bath and Body Works Paris Amour lip gloss, a black pen, a Cleanwell hand sanitizer in orange vanilla, a Benadryl itch stick, Tums, my wallet, and my keys. I used my phone to take a picture of my purse stuff, but that was also in there. I'll give it a couple of more days until I get my whole life back in there.

Sunday Social: My Blog

Sunday Social

1. What is the name of your blog?
My blog is called simple paper wings, and I got the name from my recent obsession with angel wings.

2. What do you love most about blogging?
Since I'm new at blogging, I love just gathering ideas for blog posts and looking for inspiration from other blogs or pinterest.

3. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I wanted to have some sort of a creative outlet for my life, and I thought it might be fun to have like an archive of stuff I love or things that have been going on in my life.

4. What is something you’d want to tell someone just starting out in the blog world?
Don't think, just do it! :) Honestly, I've thought about starting this blog for a long time now, and I'm glad I finally took the plunge. It's still a work in progress, but I think it'll come together in time hopefully.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you’ve had?
So far, I've found it really helpful to jot down ideas as I stumble upon a topic that I might want to blog about eventually. There have been many times where I opened a new blog post page and got writer's block, which is really awful. Now, I have a short list of ideas I can refer to if I need a little starting point.

6. What are three blogs you love?
These are my current favorites, and I highly recommend them!

That Girl Magazine
Pure Makeup
Becoming Minimalist

Sunday Social: It's Almost Fall!

Sunday Social

I love seeing this blog link up around the blogosphere so I'm excited to finally join in on the fun. This week's questions are about fall time stuff, and I love the fall season so I'm really excited about this!

1. What is your favorite fall activity?
I love going decorating the house with fall decorations and making arts and crafts that gets me really into the spirit of the season. Of course, I also love everything about Halloween!

2. Do you follow a football team? If so, which one and why?
I don't follow a football team since I don't really like the sport in general, but I love to silently root for the SF 49ers. NorCal pride all the way!

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?
In El Dorado Hills, there's an area called Apple Hill where they have apple-picking, harvest items to purchase, and many vendors and farms selling delicious food, especially so many things related to apples! It has always been fun in the past so I hope I can also visit this year. The pictures below are some pictures that I took last year.
Lots of yummy apples!
